dietary fibres

insoluble & soluble

In the 1970s, researchers found lower incidence of some diseases in areas where the diet was rich in fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Consequently, it was established that fibre is good for your health.

Dietary fibre includes both

  • indigestible or insoluble matter (bran, husk, plant fibre) and
  • substances that are fermented by bacteria in the colon (soluble fibre).

So one of the main reasons to eat fruits, vegetables and muesli is to keep your colon healthy.
